Establishing a foothold
This week, I spent time crafting the business plan for both Immix Games and a $100 sell anything challenge for a project at school. It was very thought-provoking. I chose not to follow the base business plan as outlined by the school, but rather to follow a guideline I read within the Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. Whilst I may not agree with everything set forth in the book, I was really captured by how he explained his prosperity plan (business plan) really needed to be visceral.
This concept of visceral provoked me to truly think about what I want out of this business - why I am doing it. Keeping these questions in mind allowed me to craft a wonderful plan I can read again and again to ensure that all of my products and practices fall within this prosperity plan.
Afterward, I chose to do the simple school assignment business plan. I have decided to create Kettle to the Metal. This is a kettle corn product that is delicious and I would swear had crack in it if I didn't create the recipe myself. I am glad that I chose to do this assignment second. I spent the whole time wondering what I want to do with this business. Sure, it is an assignment for school, but what if I want to continue this business? How would I want it set up and what would I want it to be known for? Who would I trust to buy it out?
These questions are essential for business and for my business partners to understand. If they are not on the same page for the destination of the business, how can I entrust any start of a business to them? This is why it has to be visceral. I must fight to keep my business going in the right direction before it is pulled into the reefs.
This week I will be sitting down with my first potential employee or partner and going over the documents I have created. I will discuss any revisions that may be necessary so as to concrete the plans for Immix Games. Then, when we go forward to accomplish our goals, we can recognize the path we tread.
I am not content with a sub-par business. Even if it is just for an assignment. While this initial company for my class will have to end, I will be running it's day to day operations as if it will continue forever.
